About Baking Bad
Baking Bad announces itself as a parody the moment you read the title, pairing two of Godard's personified olive characters who are, in the gallery's words, "always cookin' up trouble." Pop-culture wordplay like this has become one of the more reliable currents running through the artist's later career, alongside the personified olives that made him famous in the first place.
It is a favorite among collectors of Las Vegas pop art, cocktail and bar wall art, and limited edition giclee, the imagery that first built the artist's reputation. If you are ready to start or grow a collection, browse the full range of Michael Godard art for sale.
Editions, sizes & prices of this limited edition giclee
Baking Bad is released in four documented editions across two sizes, each a gallery-wrapped canvas giclee. The 28" x 37.5" Signed and Numbered Edition of 300 is signed by the artist and individually numbered; the G, Artist's Proof, and Gallery Proof editions are individually numbered rather than signed. The Artist's Proof carries a one-color hand paint embellishment and the Gallery Proof a five-color hand paint embellishment. All four editions are currently available per the gallery's master price list.

Pop-culture parody in Godard's work
Taking a familiar piece of American pop culture and running it through his own visual filter, bold outlines, saturated color, a black background, and a cast of personified characters standing in for people, is a recurring move across Godard's catalog. Baking Bad applies that treatment with a wink at a well-known television title, which is part of what makes it an easy conversation piece for a home bar, kitchen, or man cave, alongside his other olive-and-parody works.
About Michael Godard
From draftsman and drummer to "Rockstar of the Art World"
Born in 1963 and later based in Las Vegas, Godard studied at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and at UNLV, and spent years working as a draftsman and commercial illustrator, and drumming in Las Vegas bands, before painting full time. The turning point was a friend's request for a birthday painting about dirty martinis: he answered with personified, animated olive characters full of attitude, and that became the visual language behind the nickname collectors know him by, the "Rockstar of the Art World."
The signature style
His pop art is instantly recognizable, personified olives, grapes, and other characters set against high-contrast backgrounds, rendered with theatrical exaggeration and a satirist's sense of timing, plus the hidden names, dates, and initials that reward repeat viewing. Baking Bad leans into that humor with a direct pop-culture reference.
Beyond the canvas, and giving back
His book Don't Drink and Draw, with a foreword by friend and collector Ozzy Osbourne, was named an Art Book of the Year in 2006. Since 2006, following the loss of his daughter Paige to brain cancer at 16, the artist has maintained an ongoing charitable relationship with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and related causes. This title joins a catalog of limited edition fine art he has been building for more than thirty years. For the complete story, read the full artist biography.
