About Brothers In Arms
Brothers In Arms is part of Godard's expanding catalog of limited edition fine art, rendered in the bold, saturated color and theatrical composition collectors recognize across his work. The gallery's product notes tie this title directly to the connection between his art and military audiences, which makes it a meaningful choice for a veteran, a service family, or anyone who values the bond the title names.
As with his other limited editions, it rewards close viewing: Godard is known for tucking hidden names, dates, and initials into his compositions, giving collectors new details to find long after the piece is on the wall. Choosing between canvas and metal
It is one of a group of recent Godard releases offered both as traditional canvas/paper giclee editions and as limited editions printed on metal. The canvas/paper runs cover the widest price range, from the 17.5" x 22" G Edition up to the 40" x 50" M Edition, while the Metal editions give the same image a different surface and finish at their own sizes. Collectors who want the largest statement piece can compare the two 40" x 50" M Editions side by side on the product page.
About Michael Godard
From draftsman and drummer to "Rockstar of the Art World"
Born in 1963 and later based in Las Vegas, Godard studied at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and at UNLV, and spent years working as a draftsman and commercial illustrator, and drumming in Las Vegas bands, before painting full time. The turning point was a friend's request for a birthday painting about dirty martinis: he answered with personified, animated olive characters full of attitude, and that became the visual language behind the nickname collectors know him by, the "Rockstar of the Art World."
The signature style
His pop art is instantly recognizable, personified characters and bold subjects set against high-contrast backgrounds, rendered with theatrical exaggeration, plus the hidden names, dates, and initials that reward repeat viewing. This piece brings that same craftsmanship to a title with a more personal meaning for many collectors.
Beyond the canvas, and giving back
His book Don't Drink and Draw, with a foreword by friend and collector Ozzy Osbourne, was named an Art Book of the Year in 2006. Since 2006, following the loss of his daughter Paige to brain cancer at 16, the artist has maintained an ongoing charitable relationship with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and related causes.
