About Dos Amigos Borrachos

The title translates to "Two Drunken Friends." Two personified tequila worms have had a little too much to drink, while the lime beside them just cannot keep up. It is a buddy-comedy scene, and the humor comes from character rather than from any single prop.

Pairing two animated characters recalls where Godard's style began, with a commissioned painting that gave a garnish a personality. If you are ready to start or grow a collection, browse the full range of Michael Godard art for sale.

Buddy comedy in Godard's catalog

This piece sits with the lighter, character-driven scenes in Godard's catalog, where personified drinks and garnishes share the frame. It is a natural companion for collectors drawn to tequila, bar, and man cave wall art, and to the other Godard pieces that play a drunken pair for laughs.

About Michael Godard

From draftsman and drummer to "Rockstar of the Art World"

Born in 1963 and later based in Las Vegas, Godard studied at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and at UNLV, and spent years working as a draftsman and commercial illustrator, and drumming in Las Vegas bands, before painting full time. The turning point was a friend's request for a birthday painting about dirty martinis: he answered with personified, animated olive characters full of attitude, and that became the visual language behind the nickname collectors know him by, the "Rockstar of the Art World."

The signature style

His pop art is instantly recognizable, personified characters set against high-contrast backgrounds, rendered with theatrical exaggeration and a satirist's sense of timing. Dos Amigos Borrachos gives that treatment to a pair of tequila worms and a lime.

Beyond the canvas, and giving back

His book Don't Drink and Draw, with a foreword by friend and collector Ozzy Osbourne, was named an Art Book of the Year in 2006. Since 2006, following the loss of his daughter Paige to brain cancer at 16, the artist has maintained an ongoing charitable relationship with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and related causes.
