About Michael Godard
Knocked Out gives one of Michael Godard's olive characters a boxer's persona, part of a long-running joke across his catalog where personified fruit take on human occupations and pastimes. That habit of building entire personalities for his characters started with the very first olive he painted, a birthday commission built around dirty martinis that Godard answered by giving the olive in the glass a face, arms, and a distinct attitude rather than treating it as garnish.
