About Angel Hair

Angel Hair sits within Godard's wine cellar and champagne catalog, continuing the visual language of personified characters and celebratory bar imagery that first built his reputation. The piece depicts a champagne bottle labeled faith and hope alongside champagne strawberries, with angel-winged ribbons carrying bundles of hair bound by a pink ribbon, the color associated with breast cancer awareness.

In the artist's own words: "This piece is a tribute to volunteers across the country that donated their hair to support the cause of making wigs for people who have lost their hair during chemotherapy cancer treatment." It speaks to fans of wine cellar art, champagne and celebration wall art, and Godard's wider grape and strawberry themed catalog. The story behind Angel Hair

Champagne and personified strawberries carry Angel Hair, a pairing that shows up often in Godard's more glamorous, celebratory compositions. Strawberries function almost like a second lead character across his catalog, standing in for the martini-loving olive in scenes built around romance and celebration, and here that softer register is paired with a genuinely personal cause. Godard has maintained a charitable relationship with cancer-related causes since 2006, and this piece is one of the clearest expressions of that commitment in his catalog.

About Michael Godard

From draftsman and drummer to "Rockstar of the Art World"

Born in 1963 and later based in Las Vegas, Godard studied at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and at UNLV, and spent years working as a draftsman and commercial illustrator, and drumming in Las Vegas bands, before painting full time. The turning point was a friend's request for a birthday painting about dirty martinis: he answered with personified, animated olive characters full of attitude, and that became the visual language behind the nickname collectors know him by, the "Rockstar of the Art World."

The signature style

His pop art is instantly recognizable, personified olives, grapes, and other characters set against high-contrast backgrounds, rendered with theatrical exaggeration and a satirist's sense of timing, plus the hidden names, dates, and initials that reward repeat viewing. Angel Hair applies that same craft to a more tender, celebratory subject.

Beyond the canvas, and giving back

His book Don't Drink and Draw, with a foreword by friend and collector Ozzy Osbourne, was named an Art Book of the Year in 2006. Since 2006, following the loss of his daughter Paige to brain cancer at 16, the artist has maintained an ongoing charitable relationship with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and related causes, a commitment this piece directly reflects.
