About Michael Godard
Money Roll brings together three recurring characters from Michael Godard's world, olives, limes, and a roll of cash, and pieces built around currency have a long history in his catalog. That history starts, oddly enough, with a martini. A friend once asked Godard to paint something for a birthday centered on dirty martinis, and he responded by giving the olives in the glass personalities of their own, a decision that grew into the anthropomorphic style he is now known for across olives, grapes, and strawberries alike, all rendered against the bold black backgrounds that make his color choices pop.
