About Michael Godard
"Busted" combines cars, dice, and fire into one of Michael Godard's higher-tension gambling scenes, a reminder that his casino and gaming pieces often carry a real sense of consequence rather than pure celebration. The smoke and flame here suggest a bet gone wrong, a narrative thread that runs through several of his gambling-themed canvases even as the personified olive characters keep things from tipping into pure drama.
