Painted around Valentine's Day, it twists a grape couple together in the stem of the glass while a gypsy grape mixes a love potion atop a stack of corks, since in Godard's world the grapes cannot stand the corks. The romantic, wine-country whimsy fits a kitchen, dining room, or wine cellar.
"This was done around Valentine’s Day. I wanted to do something romantic so I painted a couple twisted together in the stem of the glass. The corks have been reduced to standing on each other’s heads because the grapes hate the corks. A gypsy grape, sitting on the uppermost cork, is making a love potion.
