Burning Blackjack is a large-format limited edition mural giclee by Las Vegas pop artist Michael Godard, offered as an M (Mural) edition of 50 at 46" x 61.3".
Godard tells the story himself: a premonition of playing blackjack with his hands on fire, followed by a real month-long hot streak where he won over $100,000 and put a down payment on a Lamborghini for Elly. The painting shows the flaming hand of cards with the king raising a martini to toast the win, a scene made for a man cave, game room, or home bar.
"My buddy Joe called me and said, "How are you doing on gambling?" I hadn't gambled in a while. Living in Vegas I see it all the time; I told him I was over it. That conversation triggered a premonition. I saw myself, the next time I played, with hands that were on fire. There was no way i could lose. Later that month I started playing blackjack and played for a month. I couldn't lose. I made a killing. I won over $100,000 and used the winnings to put a down payment on a lamborghini for Elly. You can see the hand of cards is on fire. The king is holding up a martini as if toasting the winning hand. There is nothing more enjoyable than playing blackjack with a hot hand. " ~ Michael Godard
This is a mural edition of fifty.

About Michael Godard
Michael Godard, born in 1963, is the Las Vegas painter and former drummer known as the Rockstar of the Art World. Poker and blackjack scenes make up a large part of his catalog, drawn from the casino floors of the city he has lived in for decades, and Burning Blackjack pushes that world into something cinematic with smoke and flame. The story he tells of a real winning streak behind the piece is typical of how he builds paintings around lived Vegas moments.
