About Michael Godard
"Bullets" pairs Michael Godard's gambling imagery with his martini-and-olive characters, a combination that shows up often in his work because both subjects come from the same well: the Las Vegas nightlife he has painted, and lived inside, for most of his adult life. The dice-and-cards vocabulary he returns to again and again reads less like a gimmick and more like reporting, drawn from years spent around the casino floor before and during his painting career.
