The computer on the desk is smashed and on fire and you can tell whether they’re having a good or a bad day. About Michael Godard
Market Leveler puts Michael Godard's olive characters into the world of work, a recurring joke across his catalog where personified fruit take on human occupations. That instinct to give his characters entire lives traces back to the very first olive he ever painted, a favor for a friend who wanted a birthday piece built around dirty martinis. Godard gave the olive in the glass a face and a personality instead of leaving it as still-life garnish, and the idea proved durable enough to carry an entire career, eventually extending to grapes and strawberries rendered against the same bold black backgrounds.
