Marlin Martini is a limited edition paper giclee by Las Vegas pop artist Michael Godard, offered in a Paper Edition of 495 at 30" x 38", available with or without a sketch by the artist.
As Godard tells it, the piece began as a fishing friend's request, and the result reads like a pun come to life: an olive up top has hooked an olive fish in the vodka ocean below, with a twisted martini glass to match. Its fishing and martini theme suits a home bar, man cave, or lake house.
"A fisherman friend of mine, Dennis, usually gives me some of his freshly-caught fish. One day he told me he wanted me to paint a fishing piece. “No painting… no fish,” he said, so the Marlin Martini was born. The olive on top has hooked an olive fish in the vodka ocean below. I asked him what they do all day on the boat and he said, “we get twisted,” so the martini glass is twisted." ~ Michael Godard

About Michael Godard
Michael Godard, born in 1963 and based in Las Vegas, has given personalities to hundreds of olives, grapes, and other characters over the years, and in Marlin Martini he extends that cast to a hooked olive fish. A drummer before he turned to painting, he earned the nickname the "Rockstar of the Art World" for his bold, high-energy style, the same energy that lets a single fishing pun carry a whole composition. After losing his daughter Paige to cancer, Godard became a dedicated supporter of children's cancer charities, including St. Jude.
