About Michael Godard
Mud Wrestling swaps Michael Godard's usual olives and grapes for a coffee-themed cast, proof that his pop-art formula travels well beyond the cocktail glass that made him famous. Before he ever picked up a brush professionally, Godard spent years working two very different day jobs: drumming in Las Vegas bands and drafting architectural plans and commercial illustration for a living. Both left a mark. The drummer's sense of rhythm and timing shows up in how his compositions balance figures against negative space, and the drafting background shows up in the precision of his linework, even in a loose, cartoonish piece built around personified characters like this one.
