Michael Godard painted Platinum Persuasion as a moody, romantic still life: a black lace and patent stiletto heel, a flickering candle in a silver candlestick, and a spray of deep red roses, all set against a near-black background.

A favorite for glamour and fashion themed wall art, Platinum Persuasion suits a bedroom, boutique, or lounge with a touch of after-dark elegance.

See our edition types guide for a full explanation of what Artist Proof, Gallery Proof, Signed and Numbered, G, and Metal editions mean.

About Platinum Persuasion

Platinum Persuasion is part of Michael Godard's expanding catalog of limited edition fine art. Rendered in Godard's signature high-contrast style, Platinum Persuasion pairs a single sculptural stiletto with candlelight and roses, trading his usual bold color-blocking for the quiet drama of black, red, and silver. It's a more restrained, seductive register for Godard, proof that his theatrical eye for composition works just as well in a hushed still life as it does in a crowded casino scene. As with all of Godard's limited editions, Platinum Persuasion rewards close viewing: he is known for tucking hidden names, dates, and initials into his compositions, giving collectors new details to find long after the piece is on the wall.

About Michael Godard

Platinum Persuasion trades Michael Godard's usual bar-culture cast of characters for something quieter and more suggestive: a single stiletto lit by candlelight, roses close at hand. The title alone signals the same appetite for glamour and seduction that runs through much of Godard's catalog, even when the subject shifts from martini glasses to a shoe on a dressing table.

That eye for theatrical presentation has an unlikely origin. Born March 10, 1963, and raised in Pasadena before settling in Las Vegas, Godard studied at ArtCenter College of Design and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and spent his twenties as a professional drummer in Las Vegas bands and as an architectural draftsman rather than as a painter. His signature style began with a single request from a friend for a martini-themed birthday painting, answered with a personified olive rendered against black, a breakthrough that came during a period when Godard was living in his car to support his children.

He built his earliest reputation trading finished paintings for meals at "drink and draw" nights in Las Vegas bars and restaurants, a far cry from the glossy, candlelit elegance of Platinum Persuasion, and that contrast between hard-won beginnings and glamorous subject matter runs throughout his career. Godard's well-known habit of hiding names, dates, and initials inside his compositions likely continues here as well.

His public profile has grown into genuine luxury-brand territory over the years, earning him the nickname "Rockstar of the Art World" through television appearances on A&E's Criss Angel's Mindfreak and American Casino, and collaborations including custom guitar artwork for Guns N' Roses and a vodka and gin brand bearing his own name. His 2006 book Don't Drink and Draw was named an Art Book of the Year, and a documentary about his life has won awards at multiple independent film festivals.

Since 2006, following the death of his teenage daughter Paige to brain cancer, Godard has supported St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Nevada Cancer Institute, regularly visiting hospitals to paint alongside children in treatment. Platinum Persuasion, glossy and confident, reflects one shining facet of a career built from far humbler beginnings.

Ozzy Osbourne wrote the foreword to one of Michael Godard's books, and his artwork has reportedly been placed in a Pentagon officers' lounge and aboard U.S. Navy vessels, an unusually wide-ranging reach for an artist whose career started with paintings traded for bar tabs. His 2006 book Don't Drink and Draw was named an Art Book of the Year, and a documentary about his life has won awards at multiple independent film festivals, further proof of a career that moved from real hardship to genuine, hard-earned glamour over the course of several decades and countless finished paintings, including quieter, more intimate pieces like Platinum Persuasion, sold one at a time to collectors nationwide.
