Drink is a limited edition canvas giclée by Las Vegas pop artist Michael Godard, offered in the Signed & Numbered and Artist's Proof editions at 28" x 35".

Drink is one of Godard's cleverest setups. He wanted a martini glass in the scene but did not want to simply paint one, so he shaped the glow spilling from a street lamp into the form of a martini glass instead. The setting is a seedy, after-dark corner of town, where a young woman sips her drink because the crosswalk signal flatly tells her to: "Drink." It is moody, witty Vegas-noir, and it suits a home bar, lounge, or man cave that wants some atmosphere on the wall.

"I wanted to paint a martini glass in this, but didn't want to paint a martini glass, so I painted the light coming from the lamp-post in the shape of a martini glass. This is a seedy side of town and a young woman is drinking her martini because the crosswalk sign says 'Drink.'" ~ Michael Godard

This is a gallery wrapped canvas.

What do the edition types mean (G, S/N, AP, GP, M)?

Each Michael Godard release comes in limited editions that differ by size, rarity, and hand embellishment: G (Giclée) is the core limited edition; S/N (Signed & Numbered) is a larger signed, hand-numbered edition; AP (Artist's Proof) is a scarce proof with a 1-color hand-paint embellishment; GP (Gallery Proof) features a 5-color hand-paint embellishment; M (Mural) is the largest format, and the metal M edition is 5-color highlighted. Original paintings are one-of-a-kind and the rarest of all. This piece is available in: S/N (Signed & Numbered) and AP (Artist's Proof) editions. About Michael Godard

Drink pairs a simple visual pun, a crosswalk signal and a lamp-post reimagined into a martini glass, with the streetwise, after-hours mood Michael Godard has built across more than 30 years of nightlife painting. In his own account, he wanted the glass without literally painting one, so he made it out of light instead. That instinct, finding the joke and the elegant workaround in the same stroke, is a big part of why collectors have followed his limited editions for decades.
