About Safari Series: Rhino Wine

Safari Series: Rhino Wine is part of Michael Godard's expanding catalog of limited edition fine art. Rendered in Godard's signature bold, saturated color palette, this wine-themed piece carries the same theatrical exaggeration and craftsmanship collectors recognize across his work: it continues Godard's best-known visual language: personified characters set against wine, cocktail, and party-culture imagery, the same territory that first built his reputation as the "Rockstar of the Art World." As with all of Godard's limited editions, the piece rewards close viewing: he is known for tucking hidden names, dates, and initials into his compositions, giving collectors new details to find long after the piece is on the wall.

What do the edition types mean (G, S/N, AP, GP, M)?

Each Michael Godard release comes in limited editions that differ by size, rarity, and hand embellishment: G (Giclée) is the core limited edition; S/N (Signed & Numbered) is a larger signed, hand-numbered edition; AP (Artist's Proof) is a scarce proof with a 1-color hand-paint embellishment; GP (Gallery Proof) features a 5-color hand-paint embellishment; M (Mural) is the largest format, and the metal M edition is 5-color highlighted. Original paintings are one-of-a-kind and the rarest of all. This piece is available on canvas in the G (Giclée), S/N (Signed & Numbered), AP (Artist's Proof), and M (Mural) editions, and on metal in the M (Mural) edition. About Michael Godard

A rhino balancing a glass of wine is a very Michael Godard idea: take something formidable and give it a taste for the finer things. The piece belongs to his Safari Series, extending the personified, character-driven style he first built around olives and grapes into the animal kingdom.

Godard was born in 1963 and is based in Las Vegas, where he worked as a drummer before turning to painting full time. Known as the "Rockstar of the Art World," he built his reputation giving olives, grapes, and other fruit bold personalities in high-contrast, character-driven scenes. After losing his daughter Paige to cancer, he has supported children's cancer charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and that mix of humor and heart runs through everything he paints.

Metal Editions

Safari Series: Rhino Wine is also available as limited "on Metal" editions, printed on metal with their own sizes and pricing:

  • 40" x 60" M Edition on Metal, material Metal, $4,995
