About Michael Godard
"To the Rescue" is a martini-and-olive composition from Godard's foundational cocktail series. As in nearly everything in Michael Godard's catalog, his signature personified olives anchor the scene. The origin of Godard's signature cast is almost accidental: asked to paint a martini-themed birthday gift for a friend, he gave the olives personalities of their own, and the response to that single canvas convinced him he had found his subject.
