Nasbar 500 is a limited edition canvas giclee by Las Vegas pop artist Michael Godard, offered in the E edition at 28" x 35" in a run of 300.

Leading from Godard's own account, the painting turns a friend's love of racing into a full pit-row gag: the pit wall reads olive pit, a passed-out olive slumps after draining the martini from the winner's cup, and a race official rushes in with his hand raised as if to shout no drinking. Packed with cars, cocktails, and inside jokes, it belongs over a home bar or in a man cave.

E Edition includes a 5 color embellishment

"My buddy, Vince, used to race cars and has lots of racing memorabilia. I saw a TV show about NASCAR's popularity and the fact that one in every four Americans is a fan. Along the pit wall is the name olive pit, another play on words, since olives have pits and this is the pit area. On the wall are the names of my three daughters, Buick, Maddy and Paige. On the car is the name big daddy, which is Dave's nickname. The wrench represents a friend. Someone drank the martini from the winner's cup and passed out. The race official is running up to the passed-out olive with his hand raised as if to say 'no drinking!'" ~ Michael Godard

This is a gallery wrapped canvas.

About Michael Godard

Michael Godard, born in 1963 and raised into the Las Vegas scene where he drummed before he painted, earned the nickname Rockstar of the Art World by giving olives and other fruit real personalities. Nasbar 500 shows his habit of hiding the people he loves inside a painting, with his three daughters' names set along the wall and friends' nicknames worked into the car and crew. One of those daughters, Paige, was later lost to cancer, and Godard's work now helps support children's cancer charities including St. Jude.
