About Michael Godard
Pride takes its name from the collective term for a group of lions and brings Michael Godard's bold, saturated color to the animal kingdom, a natural companion to his Safari Series. The subject trades cocktail glasses for wildlife while keeping the confident, character-driven style collectors know him for.
Godard was born in 1963 and is based in Las Vegas, where he worked as a drummer before turning to painting full time. Known as the "Rockstar of the Art World," he built his reputation giving olives, grapes, and other fruit bold personalities in high-contrast, character-driven scenes. After losing his daughter Paige to cancer, he has supported children's cancer charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and that mix of humor and heart runs through everything he paints.
