About Michael Godard
Queen Bee brings Michael Godard's character-driven style to one of the smallest subjects in his catalog, an insect whose social structure gives the painting an obvious regal metaphor. Its black and gold coloring plays directly to the saturated, high-contrast palette he is known for.
Godard was born in 1963 and is based in Las Vegas, where he worked as a drummer before turning to painting full time. Known as the "Rockstar of the Art World," he built his reputation giving olives, grapes, and other fruit bold personalities in high-contrast, character-driven scenes. After losing his daughter Paige to cancer, he has supported children's cancer charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and that mix of humor and heart runs through everything he paints.
