About Michael Godard
Royals dresses a lion king and lioness queen in crowns, jewels, and velvet robes for a wine toast fit for a coronation, bringing Michael Godard's bold color and theatrical black-background staging to a scene of rank and ceremony. It pairs his love of animal subjects with his long-running fascination with wine and celebration.
Godard was born in 1963 and is based in Las Vegas, where he worked as a drummer before turning to painting full time. Known as the "Rockstar of the Art World," he built his reputation giving olives, grapes, and other fruit bold personalities in high-contrast, character-driven scenes. After losing his daughter Paige to cancer, he has supported children's cancer charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and that mix of humor and heart runs through everything he paints.
