About Michael Godard
Gold Fish pairs Michael Godard's olive characters with a sports and pop-culture sensibility, one more sign of how flexible his anthropomorphic style has proven over the years. That flexibility started with a single character: a friend commissioned a birthday painting built around dirty martinis, and Godard gave the olive in the glass a face and a personality rather than treating it as garnish, a decision that grew into a career spanning grapes, strawberries, and a wide range of pop-culture riffs.
