"Wall Street Martini" is a comic, occupation-themed martini scene. As in nearly everything in Michael Godard's catalog, the olive characters take on a specific trade or profession, one of Godard's favorite comic devices. The character at the heart of this kind of scene traces back to a single favor: a friend once asked Godard for a birthday painting celebrating dirty martinis, and rather than paint the drink alone, he gave the olives faces, gestures, and attitude. That decision, made almost on a whim, became the seed of everything that followed.
